SAILING TIPS FROM YOUR FIRST MATE
Ahoy Sailor!
Whether it’s your first sailing with this iconic brand, or your 10th, WELCOME to an exciting new adventure! I am thrilled to be your First Mate, and am here to enhance your voyage at every step in the process.
Here are my pro-tips & helpful reminders to help you set sail a little more smoothly:
Pre-Voyage Tips.
Packing
Don’t forget your RED attire for Scarlet Night! During one of your at-sea evenings, the ship will turn red in celebration of the Sailor & the Moon (no spoilers from me, you’ll learn more onboard!) — and it’s a great time to go all out with sparkles, feathers, or whatever makes you feel & look your BEST SELF!
Usual suspects aside (I.e. - Passport & essential medication), I highly recommend:
Motion sickness medicine/patches (ex. Dramamine)
Reef-Safe Sunscreen & After-Sun Lotion
Reusable Water Bottle/Canteen
Small ‘Go-Bag’ to use when you go ashore (backpack, reusable bag, or maybe a drybag depending on the planned activities)
Smaller bills for gratuities — always helpful while traveling even though tips are included in your voyage fare.
The more red, the better!
DAY One.
Parking
Miami’s Terminal V is located at 718 N Cruise Blvd, Miami, FL 33132
Pro Tip: If your vehicle has disabled veteran’s plates, parking at the Port is complimentary.
Upon arriving at the Port, I recommend parking in Parking Garage G, located HERE , and you can walk across to Terminal V with your luggage. Elevators are available, but can be a little slow when demand is high.
Learn more about pricing HERE for parking at the Port.
Once On Board
Hungry?
The Dockhouse (Inside) & Dock (Deck 7 Aft; Outside) as well as the 24/7 food hall called The Galley (Deck 15 Mid/Aft; Inside & Outside) are the two main locations open at time of boarding for food.
Grab a cone of gelato from Lick Me Til I Scream on Deck 7.
View deck plans for all ships HERE.
Dining Reservations
Additional dining reservations tend to pop-up once onboard — be sure you’re connected to the Ship’s WiFi (free WiFi is available with limited capacity) for best results.
On embarkation day, Razzle Dazzle (Deck 5 Mid) will have dedicated assistance if you need further help making dining reservations.
If you need support from ‘Day Two’ forward, visit Sailor Services near Pink Agave (Deck 5 Mid) or the restaurant directly.
Arriving to Your Cabin
Scan the fob on your bracelet to the NFC area (teal arrow in photo below) above the illuminated light to unlock your door.
Watch the Mandatory Muster Video & Complete In-Person Check-in.
Pro Tip: Turn on the mandatory [rock] video while you unpack. Once you’ve finished viewing, make your way to your assigned muster station to be cleared to continue roaming the ship. You should hear several announcements to complete this!
Port Bimini (My Way).
See the Island via Golf Cart — Google Maps Links included!
First, it’s important to take a couple beach towels when you disembark the ship, if you want to visit a beach. Typically, you’ll see big bins of them outside the gangway as you disembark.
Next, you can walk or take the tram, but my favorite thing to enjoy on the picturesque island of Bimini is not at the Beach Club. Instead, I like to rent a golf cart for the day ($60-80; you can negotiate typically!) and use that to navigate to some prime spots.
Here are a few of my favorite stops!
Radio Beach - Don’t forget sunscreen & to snag a towel from the ship when you disembark. Arguably, this is my favorite spot on the island!
CJ’s Deli - next to Radio Beach & some of THE best fried shrimp I’ve eaten, beach-side. When you leave, drive the seaside road back for stunning views!
Resorts World Bimini - hotel & casino. This is a tram stop as well, if you don’t rent a golf cart.
Maybe it’s the golf cart owner in me, but I just love that you can drive around the small island and when you want to visit the Beach Club, just show up — there’s parking out front for golf carts!
You can come and go as you like, but I think the Island’s food is far superior to what you’ll enjoy at the Beach Club. I can’t wait to hear how you spend your day!
